I never had a chance when I played it as a kid on the NES. Same as you, thanks to this, I finally beat Pool of Radiance after 30+ years. I finally got to finish the damn game after 30+ years! What you say makes sense, as I cast enlarge on a fighter with 18(51) strength. This and the jewelry glitch were fixed in Secret of the Silver Blades, thankfully Originally posted by M'igo Kazan:In Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds, using a strength-enhancing potion, spell, or piece of gear on a character who already has 18 or above strength will "raise" their strength to 50 or 99, and ironically makes it so they can't hit for ♥♥♥♥, or carry anything, and resting/unequipping the offending effect doesn't fix it, so the only fix is to either reload an older save, or use a save game editor to manually restore your strength (without the exceptional strength bonus, since the companion app's SGE can't handle those, somehow) Other things do register with super high strength like better Thaco, increased damage, and improved encumbrance but bashing doors is just bugged at that level.

My Sokol Keep fight had a total of 50 or so monsters.

As for stats affecting the number of monsters it does. So it's just an odd thing with super high strength. I did find that if one person in your party has 18(00) and the rest 25 strength you can bash a door every time. I was under the assumption that the number of monsters you fight can change based on the number of party members and their stats so I was testing things to see and that's when I found that I couldn't bash open any doors. I did it by messing around with the editor in the Goldbox Companion app included with the games. You can't raise your STR that high in Pool though, I thought 18 (00) was the highest? Maybe that's why it doesn't register? Seems Pools and Curse have some odd things going on if you are above 18(00) strength. Once I dropped back down to 18(00) it worked on the first attempt. I tried over and over with 20 and 25 str and could not do it. Originally posted by Onix:An interesting thing I found yesterday in Pool of Radiance is that if your party has everyone over 18(00) strength (say 19-25 str) you can't successfully bash a door.
